Spring Dusk
長く伸びる夕暮れ、薄紫の空

春の夕暮れは時間が長く、空がゆっくりと暗くなる。その分、車窓の景色もゆっくりと変化していく。
Spring dusk lasts long; the sky darkens slowly. The view from the window changes gradually, unhurriedly.
宇和海の島々が薄紫色に浮かぶ。春の長い夕暮れは、島の稜線を一つずつ闇に溶かしていく。車窓の左側には、水平線に沈む太陽の残光が道を作る。一本の光の道が海を横切り、それを追いかけるように列車は進む。
The islands of the Uwa Sea emerge in pale purple. Spring's long dusk dissolves each island's ridgeline into darkness one by one. To the left of the window, the afterglow of the sun sinking into the horizon creates a path of light across the sea.
車内には誰もいない。窓ガラスに自分の顔が映り、その奥に薄紫の島々が重なる。レールの音が規則正しく響き、その間に海風の匂いがする。終着駅に近づくと、人家の灯りが一つ、また一つと見え始める。
No one else is in the carriage. Your face reflects in the glass, and beyond it, the pale purple islands overlap. The rail sounds beat steadily, and between them, the scent of sea breeze drifts in.

嵐山を過ぎると、保津峡の深い谷間に差し掛かる。春の夕暮れの光が川面に反射し、車内が金色に揺れる。桜の新緑が、夕日に透けて光る。
Past Arashiyama, the train enters the deep Hozukyo gorge. Spring dusk light reflects off the river surface, painting the carriage in gold. Fresh cherry leaves glow translucent in the sunset.
トンネルを抜けるたびに、光と闇が交互に訪れる。車内の温かい照明と、窓の外の冷たい青が対比する。京都の奥座敷を走る列車は、都会の喧騒を忘れさせる。
Each time the train exits a tunnel, light and darkness alternate. The warm interior lights contrast with the cold blue outside. The train running through Kyoto's inner retreat makes you forget the city's noise.

夏の夕暮れはあっという間に過ぎ去る。その短さが、一瞬一瞬を濃密にする。
Summer dusk passes in a flash. That brevity makes each moment dense and vivid.
鹿児島湾を左手に、錦江湾の夕焼けを追いかける。夏の夕暮れは短く、茜色が闇に飲み込まれるのが早い。海風の匂いが窓の隙間から流れ込み、髪を揺らす。
Kagoshima Bay to your left, chasing the sunset over Kinko Bay. Summer dusk is short; the scarlet is swallowed by darkness quickly. The scent of sea breeze drifts in through the window.
車内には数人の乗客。誰も口を開かない。窓の外には、桜島のシルエットがだんだんと濃くなっていく。最後の光が火山の稜線を金色に染める瞬間は、夏だけの贅沢だ。
A few passengers in the carriage. No one speaks. Outside the window, Sakurajima's silhouette grows steadily darker. The moment when the last light paints the volcano's ridgeline gold is a summer-only luxury.

秋の夕暮れは、空の変化が最も劇的な季節。オレンジから紫へ、そして急速に闇へ。
Autumn dusk brings the most dramatic changes in the sky: from orange to purple, then rapidly to darkness.
北アルプスの稜線がオレンジに染まる。秋の夕暮れは、山の色の変化が壮観だ。車内灯が次第に強くなり、窓ガラスには室内の光景が重なり始める。
The Northern Alps ridgeline glows orange. In autumn dusk, the mountain's color changes are spectacular. The carriage lights gradually brighten, and the interior scene begins to overlay the glass.
レールの継ぎ目の音が、静かな車内に響く。カタン、カタン。それは列車が走っていることを告げる、唯一の音だ。車内の誰かが、そっとため息をつく。
The rhythm of rail joints echoes in the silent carriage. Clack, clack. The only sound telling you the train is moving. Someone in the carriage lets out a soft sigh.
紅葉した木々が窓の外を流れる。オレンジ、赤、黄色。それらが闇に吸い込まれていく様子は、まるで季節が終わる瞬間を目の当たりにしているようだ。
Autumn-colored trees flow past the window. Orange, red, yellow. Watching them absorbed into darkness feels like witnessing the moment a season ends.

日本海の荒々しい海岸線を走る。秋の夕暮れ時、波の白い飛沫がオレンジ色に染まる。岩肌に打ち付ける波の音は、列車の音をかき消すほどだ。
Running along the rugged Sea of Japan coastline. At autumn dusk, the white spray of waves glows orange. The sound of waves crashing against the rocks nearly drowns out the train.
車内は温かい。窓ガラスに結露がつき、外の景色がぼんやりと滲む。乗客は皆、窓の外に目を向けている。誰かがスマートフォンをしまい、静かに座る。
The carriage is warm. Condensation forms on the glass, blurring the outside scenery. All passengers face the window. Someone puts away their phone and sits quietly.

太平洋を左手に、秋の早い暮れへ。車窓には暗い海と、水平線に沈む太陽の残照が広がる。道東の大地は平坦で、視界が遠くまで開ける。
The Pacific to your left, heading into an early autumn dusk. Through the window, the dark sea and the afterglow of the sun sinking into the horizon. The Higashikushiro plain is flat; the view opens far into the distance.
車内は静かで、カバンの中の水筒がカタリと鳴る。それだけが室内の音だ。窓の外では、カラスが一斉に飛び立つ。暗くなり始めた草原に、人家の灯りが一つ、また一つ。
The carriage is quiet; the thermos in your bag clinks softly. That's the only indoor sound. Outside, crows take flight all at once. In the darkening grassland, house lights appear one by one.

冬の夕暮れ
Winter Dusk
早く、静かに、深い青へ
Early, quietly, into deep blue
冬の夕暮れは最も早く訪れる。午後4時過ぎには、すでに闇が近い。
Winter dusk arrives earliest. Past 4 in the afternoon, darkness is already near.
茨城の里山を縫うように走る。冬の早い夕暮れは、紅葉した雑木林が暗がりに溶けていくのを目の当たりにさせる。人家が少なくなり、闇の中に温かい灯りが浮かび上がる。
Running through the rural hills of Ibaraki. The early winter dusk lets you watch autumn-colored forest melt into darkness. Houses grow sparse; warm lights emerge in the dark.
車内の温かい空気と、窓ガラスの冷たさが対比する。指で結露を描くと、すぐに消える。列車はゆっくりとカーブを曲がり、そのたびに車体がきしむ。
The warm air inside contrasts with the cold glass. Draw on the condensation with your finger, and it vanishes quickly. The train curves slowly, the body creaking with each turn.
