On a twilight train, where you sit is a small choice that changes the quality of the journey. Left side or right side of the direction of travel. Upper or lower deck. Large window car or small.

終着駅のホームで飲む缶コーヒーは、どこで飲むよりも温かく感じる。列車のエンジン音が消えた後の静けさの中で、カンと金属音を立てて蓋を開ける。
The canned coffee on the terminal platform feels warmer than anywhere else. In the silence after the train's engine has stopped, you open the can with a metallic clink.

黄昏時の光は、物すべてを柔らかく包み込む。あの時間帯に乗る電車は、どこか懐かしい記憶を呼び起こす。それは、まだ失われていない何かを探している気持ちに似ている。
Twilight light wraps everything in softness. A train ridden at that hour calls up nostalgic memories. It feels like searching for something not yet lost.

終電を逃れたとき、あるいは意図的に終着駅で降りたとき。そこには、普段の自分では見られない世界が広がっている。ホームのベンチに座り、頭上の電線を見上げる。
When you miss the last train, or intentionally get off at the terminal. A world you don't usually see spreads out before you. You sit on the platform bench and look up at the overhead wires.
